Should i drop welker

He's also one of Tom Brady 's favorite targets. Those are very solid points in favor of a long-term contract, which is what Welker wants. But the New England Patriots appear to be chewing on a different notion, at least for the time being, which is why they slapped him with the short-term tag.

The tag buys some time for further negotiations, but it also speaks to a larger truth which could be concerning the higher-ups who write the checks. Welker takes bone-crushing beatings during every game, which doesn't bode well for a guy over Plus, his knee was blown out a few years ago. If the intelligent goal is to pay players for their future performance, then Welker is lurking in a murky middle ground. How much longer can he deliver 1,yard seasons?

He gets banged up every Sunday. Yeah, he's tough as nails, but he's also a pretty small dude. Will he even be able to stay on the field long enough to catch over balls? One could theorize that handing Welker a hefty long-term contract would merely be a way of rewarding him for his past statistics, leaving you to cross your fingers and hope that his production doesn't dip.

That's admirable, but is it intelligent? Was it a bad throw? Difficult placement? Weird angle? Without a doubt. The Patriots abide by "the Patriot way. But here's where that logic takes a detour: In the first game of the season, the Patriots were shut out by the Bills by a score of The Patriots were humiliated by that loss. In their last game of the regular season, they played the Bills again. Bill Belichick told the team, "These guys got us pretty good, okay?

You don't always get a chance to settle the score during the season, okay? We got this one. During that rematch with the Bills, the Patriots were up late in the fourth quarter. There was less than a minute left; it was garbage time and mostly second-stringers were playing. The Bills drove the ball up to the Patriots' goal, about to score. So what did Bill Belichick do? He put the starting defensive unit back in the game to prevent the score. After they made the pick, the game ended at As Rodney Harrison walked into the locker room, he kept on repeating the word "payback.

So any time someone tells you that the Patriots don't think about revenge, or don't treat certain teams differently, don't believe it. The question is: Why can't they get their revenge on the Giants? Where's the fire and brimstone that we've been looking for?

In their last three meetings with the Patriots, the Giants put up 17, 24 and 21 points. Those are low numbers. They were consistently unable to rack up big points because the Patriots' defense came through and played beautifully. The culprit has been the Patriots' offense; they haven't come through. Of course, it's difficult to get mad at the offense for blowing two Super Bowls when they're mostly the reason the Patriots played in the Super Bowls to begin with. The receiver who arguably played the biggest role in getting you to the Super Bowl couldn't make the biggest catch of the game.

The Giants have single-handedly altered all of the truths that Patriot Nation has come to understand. The facts just don't add up. For the record, I can't wait to play the Giants again. I just hope Brady feels the same way. Brady is anticipating Welker to run deeper. I feel bad for him because he deserved a better fate and when I drop any pass I agonize over it for days.

Even the Brady Bunch knows that. The Patriots should have gone for it on 4th down. Why would you give the ball back to your opponent on their side of the field? Nice try. Brady made a not so good pass, Welker made a good, but not great attempt to catch the ball and for whatever reason s the play failed.

So why do you people at PFT demand to assign fault? Its Bradys fault, its Welkers fault. Why dont you get over yourself and see this incomplete pass for what its worth,,, nothing. I agree with the many posts so far… to catch a ball thrown up and behind, with welker turning… no way….

The play was designed for the WR to turn inside, he did. The actual play required Brady to throw the ball outside. An acrobatic, leaping, degree twisting catch attempt could never be called a drop. Why is all the attention on this play, when really Branch should be under the microscope.

Meanwhile, players like Troy Aikman But of course, Joe Montana 95 QB rating in the postseason blows them all away, resulting in his perfect Super Bowl record, something that none of those guys will ever top. Welker should of caught it sure, and there shouldnt of been 12 men on the field on that fumble by Bradshaw. Once again Chowd fans are throwing one of their own players under the bus and ignoring other factors that contributed to the loss.

Peter King is right. Welker makes that catch 9 times out You must be logged in to leave a comment. Not a member?
