Why does fleance become king

Well, the ancestor of kings would be more accurate. Fleance does not become king himself, but his descendants supposedly do a couple of hundred years later.

None of this is historically accurate you realize. Macbeth wanted Banquo and fleance dead because they are a threat to this position as king knowing that the the witches have predicted that Banquo will produce a line of Kings. This is also a sign of Macbeth's paranoia.
