What makes t pains voice

He was featured on tracks by superstars such as Kanye, R. Kelly, and Jamie Foxx. Rogers Auto-Tune. The number of musicians and critics who condemned Auto-Tune as a crutch was hitting a critical mass. And many of them were calling T-Pain a one-trick pony who hid behind Auto-Tune to make up for his own shortcomings as an artist.

Audiences have never heard T-Pain like this before. Nobody had really heard [Auto-Tune] the way I heard it. At the time, he was deep in the rap scene in Tallahassee and had been searching for something to set him apart. He had a hunch that this vocal effect could help him do just that. He purged the pests, got it working, and soon rigged it up to a radio, and would while away the hours trying to match basslines on whatever song came over the airwaves. I thought they were going to find me out pretty quick, and I was going to be able to get out of that thing.

Q: Who could you tell that you were on the show? Could you tell your friends? A: Everybody knew because of my voice. It sounds really different inside the set rather than on TV, when you can hear the mic through your speakers. Out on that big set, it sounds completely different.

But my friends all knew. Obviously, I told my mom. My wife was on set with me, so she knew. Q: The show has renewed interest in your singing voice.

A: Yeah. My whole first album was very minimal Auto-Tune. Lil Wayne and Ludacris might have been equally as rambunctious and prolific, but never as happy-go-lucky as T-Pain always came off. But his talent and penchant for infectious, and more importantly, fun smash records, made him an in-demand of an artist.

But then everything changed. T-Pain went from being an in-demand artist to a novelty act. The reasoning for this is simple. It did, however, put him in the crosshairs. Artists such as Diddy and Fabolous called him out of line, despite the obvious darts thrown his direction. F— you and everything you stand for.
